Covid Relief Initiatives:

Community Kitchen:

Kaleesuwari partnered with various NGOs in the city and immediately opened a large kitchen in the Kaleesuwari’s Chennai factory to feed people in and around the factory as well as people who are affected by corona across the city. A total of 1500 people every day lunch and dinner since 1st of April 2020 and ramped up to 25000 when it was extended further in the month of May 2020 to another 1000 people. During this period, a total of over 1.5 lakh food packets to raise the spirits of those who need a helping hand during these tenuous times.

Grocery Aid:

Grocery Provisions to Ten Thousand families (Rice, Atta, Vegetables) were given to families near our plants. More than ten thousand families were identified in Kakinada (AP), Palani and Chennai(TN) and given with these relief packets.

Medical Safety Equipment:

afety equipments are critical for the front-line workers. Kaleesuwari foundations donated masks, gloves, PPE materials to hospitals in Chennai and Kakinada.

Establishment of Covid Screening Center:

Testing was the key strategy advised by the WHO to control COVID spread. While the GHs were equipped to handle the first-line responders, in villages it was ill-equipped. Request for Covid screening Centre in Palani was addressed and established in the nearby PHC. With the help the Kaleesuwari Covid screening centre over 350 people were tested.

Covid Ambulance:

Kaleesuwari donated fully functional ambulance to CSI Kalyani Hospital, Chennai to exclusively manage Covid patient. Ms. Chellammal retired nurse of the hospital and close well-wisher of the Kaleesuwari group handed over keys to the medical director Mr. Jayanth in the presence of Mr. Bala Krishnan from Kaleesuwari.

CM Relief Fund:

As an immediate relief, KRPL donated to all CM relief funds of Tamil Nadu, Andhra and Kerala Governments during natural disaster times.
